Live your dream and Share your passion

Hello Everyone,
I am back after a long time. I am back from my vacation for Durga Puja and really missing all the fun and all the relatives.
I have soo many things to share and no time to sit and write. So pardon me.
Since i came back yesterday, from two such a down to earth cities Nagpur and Bhilai, i m not liking Mumbai a lot. ( This happens to me everytime i am back from a vacation :x )
Warm people, the festive ambience and all the loved ones make even four days just perfect. And not to forget soo many yumm dishes everyday.
Apart from all the love, fun and celebrations, this trip really inspired me to follow my passion, to turn my hobbies to something worth.
Making it big.. and sharing it with the world. A nice thought, but i am still directionless.
Lets see what i figure out in coming days.. and if i do really live my dream.

The rare gifts...

We all love recieving gifts. Of course! who doesnt. But its soo rare when you recieve something, that touch your heart, brings smile to your face and feels  soo special to you. OMG and i just happen to recieve something just like this... J
Just few days back, one of my friend gifted me a membership to the library. Its all online, so you can choose the books and place the order online and they will deliver it to your home or office. Itsnt that great!! And after you fininshed reading, place order for the next book and yo will have someone to deliver you that book and pick the earlier one. Convinience at its best !!

A good book ,a hot tea and lovely rains outside the window
I love reading and had a good enough collection of books until a year back. The last year went by chasing deadlines, my wedding and then seting up my home and a routine. Somehow i missed these few of my hobbies. Well not any more..  just a week and i manage to read a lil bit everyday. And i am already  feeling happy...
Thanks  Juhi...
Carve out time from a day to do things you love. A lil bit of effort and you feel great..

A handmade note by me for Juhi. I seriously made something like this after a really looooong time.

When you stop and ponder over.... life...

Its a few days i got to sit with myself, not thinking about the work and rest of the things going on around. i simply sat and though of how life is soo unpredictable. i could somehow feel close to life and kept thinking about someone who was fighting with her life that time. I felt for a second what if i am not there to celebrate my next birthday and what if i would never have kids (i want but later in my life). Suddenly it strike me, how "present is a gift" (as quoted in the Kungfu Panda" movie). We all know it, but feel it at some point of life. I am thinking how i have missed soo many opportunities of thanking lots of people, family and friends around me and how i have missed telling them how special they are to me. i might still ponder over these thoughts for next few days...

But one thing i am sure of !! That this will take me to some place which is better than today and i am going to make my life and around much more of love and happiness than today......

Do what you want to do

Well i am back! with lots to write and  lots of topics in mind.Oh!! i missed writing soo much. Believe me, i got no time. Life has been a routine and now i desperately want to start writing again. Last few months have been hectic as never. Now i agree when people say, you get married and your life is changed.
But let me give you a sneek peek at what all things i already want to write about... It can be a long list including my wedding preps and some really funny and out of nowhere customs, my visit to Chor bazaar, Mumbai, an art and exhibition center known as Urban haat near my house, the life in Goa, a real nice book i bought called DECORATE by Holly Becker, my interior project and more...
But  right now i want to promise you i am going to be super positive writer. ( i m soo bugged with the front pages in newspapers). We all have a very hectic schedules. There are already soo much of to do lists that we just dont want to hear the stupid made up stories from the news channels. Even in the surrounding the positivity seems to be lost. So here i share with you a poster i recieved in an email. Till then, be happy and think positive. Will se ya soon.

I want to be this kid...

O you shaggy-headed banyan tree standing on the bank of the pond,
have you forgotten the little child,
like the birds that have nested in your branches and left you?
Do you not remember how he sat at the window
and wondered at the tangle of your roots that plunged underground?

The women would come to fill their jars in the pond,
and your huge black shadow would wriggle
on the water like sleep struggling to wake up.

Sunlight danced on the ripple like
restless tiny shuttles weaving golden tapestry.

Two ducks swam by the woody margin above their shadows,
and the child would sit still and think.

He longed to be the wind and blow through your rustling branches,
to be your shadow and legthen with the day on the water,
to be a bird and perch on your topmost twig,
andto float like those ducks among the weeds and shadows.

(This poem is from 'The Crescent Moon' by Tagore)

Still with love

Once there was a life, relationship, innocence and love- pure, true and honest. It passed through years and just when i turned back, it looked blurred, not because the origin was distant, but for we had lot more things in our heart than love. And even though it is there deep in our hearts, we are still striving to find it.

I wrote this long back. Today when i read it, I cannot believe i could write these lines, guess that innocence is distant from me now.

I cannot promise ....a life of sunshine,
I cannot promise... riches, wealth, or gold,
I cannot promise you... an easy pathway
That leads away from change or growing old,
But I can promise ...all my heart’s devotion,
A smile ....to chase away your tears of sorrow,
A love ..that’s ever true and ever growing,
A hand to hold ...in yours through each tomorrow,
Two loving arms ...to shelter and protect you,
The knowledge ..that I need you more than ever,
And all the happiness ..that love can give you
As, hand in hand, we walk through life together.

Even if its blur and i am trying to find it back, i still love you.

A new year and new start...

And i am back...
Like a very bad blogger who disappers for months. But back after loads of events and changes in life and work. On that later...

A new year kick start with a fresh note : Where beautiful details make a moment !!
Well! if you can relate to these words, YES! you might go deep in thoughts.
Ahmm ahm.. not by me. These are the works of the very famous, unique, artistic Kristy Rice at her studio Momental.

And here are some fantastic works by her..

I wonder what a feeling it would be when your cards are not only customized designed, but also each one is handcrafted to the best. !!

With a very bright and inspiring start to the year, I wish you all full of laughs, play, experiments, arts and LOVE!!

Love ketaki

HOPE ..

Hi you all,
It has been just a tough time around here in Mumbai. i just hope all of the people around you are safe. The bomb blasts stress and continuous rains has made all of us around lazy and grey. We are helpless and talking about the event is actually frustrating now.
So just to refresh our mood i thought of putting down some fabulous and extremly refreshing work by a very dear friend of mine - Alankrita. To introduce her, she is an architect with a perfect sense of fashion and design and a really lovable friend. Rest you can see in the pictures. I have been asking for the pictures since long, though i am glad i got them today.
There is something about pictures and paintings- each has a story, a background to it, but when we see it we have our own story of it. Like every work has an impression on the viewer depends on each ones personality, surrounding and thoughts, even i feel an impact of these pictures on my mind.  Today when we all are hoping for a better day and our loved ones to safely reach home and everyone is looking for that ray of hope, this contributes to it all. I could relate each of the photographs with the word HOPE.

YES!! extremly refreshing

One of my favourites. That is what a work of an architect

So here they are and i hope you like them as much as i do.
And Dear Alan , thanks for sending these pictures. I do look forward for more.Love you.
And since i didnt get the titles for the photographs from the photographer, it would be great if you guys could suggest some or write what you feel when you look at them.
Have a good day..

A yet another chapter !!

My friend happened to buzz "Similarity between a book and life –‘one chapter has to end for another one to begin". Perfect to me. My parents moved to our hometown and i will be sharing an apartment with a friend. Its all a mixed feeling. I would miss my parents. i was soo much used to see lots of faces after coming home, at the same time now i will be staying with friends which should be fun too. Well!! looking forward for these lots of changes to be fun.

home shifting.. was a real pain
But before that heres a small bye bye to the something i am going to miss the most. My terrace!! Our house was inside the lush greens of Aarey colony, and heres the view. You would know why i miss it soo much.

Home to the Eagles

A view to die for

Yes!! I would soo miss all this.
The good thing would be atleast there would be pizza delivery at my new place.
Pardon my writing. I am not good at writing when I get senti..

Love for Art !!

Me with a friend have been looking for some paintings for her new house for almost a month now. It is when you are in a search mode for something, you tend to get deeply involved in it. And where some art piece is concerned my involvement goes natural.

The MFH synonymous with Indian art, and deservedly so, for no single artist has popularised Indian art, within the country and globally, as Husain has done. With ever going controversies over his works and thoughts, he was the first ever artist, whose works reached a very normal person, someone who didnt had a taste or intrest in art. And there was when i caught my intrest towards art. Today art and artist are well appreciated and absorbed in the society. Art pieces and paintings have also counted in for investments. And with this great artist being gone, he will always live with us through his art, and his body of work will continue to hold immense relevance in our nation’s art history
Heres a piece of MFH most recognised paintings, there is something amazing MFH does about the gestural abstraction as the world knows.

And well why not i share one of my favourite painters also. Mr. S.H. Raza.
"It must be said that of this period, with its gestural abstractions, the dark paintings with their resonances of night and its flickering lights are compelling compositions…Theyevoke powerful emotions even as their colour juxtapositions create a throbbing movement on thesurface" (Yashodhara Dalmia, The Making of Modern Indian Art: The Progressives, Oxford UniversityPress, New Delhi, 2001, p. 156)"
Do i need to say anything else?

And atlast some of the paintings me and friend shortlisted and looking on getting them.

Painting by Arpita Das - Open  (available for sale online)

Painting by Arpita Das - Nature expressions (available for sale online)

Painting by Ritesh Meshram (available for sale online)
So now if you are planning to buy soem art pieces, there are lots available online, you can visit galleries and if you stay in mumbai there are number of really good art work you will get outside Jehangir Art Gallery.
I wish to find some time to explore painting myself too or have enough money buy some. :)
Have a great day!! cheers!!

Have a good laugh!!

A few days back i happen to bump into one of my really old friend in a BEST bus. Yes !! A really small world. She was a neighbour and we used to share a cab to work.  i was new to the city and had joined an architect as a trainee. She made great companion as we spent almost three hours a day together travel to the work and back. Strangly, she didnt remembered my profession or my native place, but she remembered i was a JERRY KING fan. I was too much into comic strips those days and often created one or two a day based on incidents happening around. I dont remember where i kept all those comics strips i made but i thought it would be a great idea to share some of the Jerry Kings works.

For those who dont know Jerry King is  an award-winning cartoonist who’s one of the most published, prolific and versatile cartoonists in the world today and yes i dont have a great sense of humour but i can be counted amongst the good observers.
I hope each one of you could relate them to some incidents in your life. if they are funny enough please do share.
Have a happy day!! Cheers!!

Surprise of the day !!

It stopped raining again !! And i am loving the clear sky, breezy weather and the bright light.

i have had coffees over coffees trying to tackle with my extremly slow office desktop. Just when i was trying to delete some unwanted data from my office desktop, I came across some really wonderful pictures. These are taken by Kedar, the designer  who used this desktop before me and may be forgot to delete his data from it. So i though to share them with you. I am not sure if i would try to contact him, but i hope he is not mad at me for this.

Looks to me, he is fond of Mumbai townside. Well needless to say i definitely loved them and i am sure you would like them too.
Pls write some good comments to rescue me, if he plans to sue me some time.

Well that gets me to an idea. An idea to feature my favourite works of lots of my photographer friends. Keep looking on for it and have a wooooonderful day.

Open to possibilities !!

Monday Morning... woke up to rains.
Had a hard time travelling with all water clogged Mumbai roads, traffic moving absolutely slow.
But something that rejunevated me and got me back to work mode. These are lines by Neha Awasthi's blog Corners and Moments. i love to read this blog.

I am absolutely looking at new possibilities and that would come from the small dreams you have which you tend to lookover.

I hope to have a great day forward ! And to freshen you up i would like to share with you a little dream. A dream backyard sitting!! with family and friends will be perfect. I have been planning to create a sitout space when i have my own house. Hope to have my own house soon!!!

I am sure you also have such lil dreams that you overlook. Take out time to ponder on them. That might make your life a little happier!!

Inspiration Board for your Spaces

When i joined the furniture team and started with sofa design i cus barely feel there was anything to design, but in these three months not only i have learnt a lot but have realised its a difficult task. The proportions and appeal is one thing but the comfort, fabrics and ergonomics would just never end. Unlike some other furniture, the sofa has to be sampled tested for comfort and proportions. Yet i completed 3 sofa designs till now, i am just waiting for them to come on the floor.

upholstered sofa in combination of textures

upholstered sofa with wood

fresh colors, light wood colors perfect a casual day

some other sofa units i liked

green sofa is much impossible to be liked in an Indian market, but you can not deny its looks fab.

A Color Palatte Inspiration

Just when i was looking at some color palattes which would go with mass appeal, i came accross the online magazine{ http://www.slowfashionhouse.com/ }slowfashionhouse by Rigetta Klint. These are some briliantlly presented color guide.
The Grey blacks highlighted with blue, yellow and greens

Grey, blacks and whites with rust greean and yellows

The beige with wooden brown complimented with rust golden and greens

Lovely rust mustard, browns, beige highlighted with orange tint

I hope you would love this almost universal color pallate and i would surely come up with some more intresting color pallates
